Atlas Primer has been named Menntasproti ársins 2026 (Educational Startup of the Year) by the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise.
This recognition is both an honor and a responsibility. It affirms that a new, more human approach to learning and development — one that is conversational, accessible, and inclusive by design — is not only possible, but necessary.
The award was accepted on behalf of the Atlas Primer team at a ceremony attended by the Minister of Education and Children and the Minister of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education, alongside distinguished guests from across Iceland’s learning and development community. The moment reflected something larger than a single company: a shared belief that the future of learning must evolve to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world.
A collective effort
Atlas Primer has always been a collective endeavor.
From the earliest days, individuals across Iceland and beyond believed that technology could make learning more human rather than less. Partners, customers, advisors, and supporters helped shape the direction of the company long before its solutions reached global recognition. Early investors placed trust in a vision that was still taking form. Families and friends provided the support that makes long-term innovation possible.
Most importantly, this recognition reflects the work of a dedicated and distributed team that continues to build, test, refine, and reimagine how people learn and grow in the age of AI. Some team members were not physically present when the award was received, but the achievement belongs equally to them. It represents a shared effort across countries, time zones, and disciplines.
Building differently
From the beginning, Atlas Primer has chosen to go off the beaten path.
While much of the conversation around artificial intelligence focuses on automation and replacement, our work has focused on empowerment. We believe technology should expand human capability, not diminish it. That belief has guided the development of conversational learning tools that allow people to practice real conversations in safe environments, transform static content into interactive experiences, and access learning regardless of language or background.
This approach has enabled organizations and individuals around the world to engage with training and development in new ways — more interactive, more inclusive, and more aligned with how people actually learn.
Looking ahead
Being named Educational Startup of the Year is not a finish line. It is encouragement to continue exploring new ways to use technology in service of human potential.
Atlas Primer will continue to innovate at the intersection of AI, communication, and learning, working to ensure that more people can access meaningful development opportunities and realize their full potential. As the company grows from its Icelandic roots to an increasingly global presence, the guiding principle remains the same: build technology that brings people closer to their capabilities, to each other, and to the future they want to create.
We are deeply grateful for this recognition and for the community that has made this journey possible. Much more lies ahead.
